For 25 years, MS. READ has championed female empowerment, body positivity and inclusivity. Now more than ever, we recognise the importance and impact of diversity in our fashion - and beyond.

Learning Curves

At MS. READ, we work hard to ensure our clothes suit the plus size female figure.

Many people may be unaware of this, but as sizes go up, the distribution of weight differs in comparison to general straight sizes. While some brands may offer large- or extra large-sized clothes, they may not be tailored for curvy proportions.

With our styles, it's not one size fits all. We've designed the majority of our outfits to be stretchable and relaxed to fit the varied shapes of plus size women. Of course, Rome wasn't built in a day and we're more than aware for the need to grow with the ever-changing trends and demands. As the seasons go by, we study and research continuously so we can continue to provide fashionable ensembles to our customers.

Our hope is that all plus size women - whether tall, petite, pear-shaped or otherwise - would walk into our stores or visit our online site and think, "Wow, I can actually buy clothes here."

Why Diversity Matters

For us, 'diversity' isn't a hashtag word we simply throw around. We genuinely believe it's important for all women, regardless of their race or size, to feel seen and heard. It's particularly significant during this heightened age of social media, where lack of representation can cause body dysmorphia. It's distressing to think that many women don't like the way they look, which is why we strive to ensure our platforms reflect the growing movements towards positivity and that we create a space where all our customers feel safe and comfortable.

More than two decades ago, we established our brand to empower plus size women through fashion. We aspired for these women to have the confidence to embrace and celebrate their curves - and we're still championing this cause. As we move forward, we'll continue to foster a diverse and inclusive environment not because it's good for our image, but because it's simply the right thing to do.

"We don't just want to have a seat at the table. We want to be there to create spaces where ALL women are valued."

Constant Evolution

In 1997, Helen Read set out to provide quality and well-fitted clothes for plus size Malaysian women. At that time, most curvy local women had limited options when it came to styles for their body types - they would either have their clothes tailor-made or opt for the biggest and baggiest size available.

But Helen wanted to change that. She understood that it wasn't just about making bigger-sized clothing; she wanted women to have the option of purchasing ready-to-wear outfits that were specifically designed for them.

25 years on, MS. READ has grown from a local pioneer plus size fashion brand to extending our reach into Singapore and Indonesia - and we don't plan on stopping anytime soon. We know the road can be long, but we are determined to uphold our commitment of helping curvy ladies everywhere to feel confident and look good.

One outfit at a time.
